Famitsu is reporting that Dragon Quest IX has sold over 2.3 million units in its first two days on sale in Japan.

The game released over the weekend. Pre-orders for the hugely anticipated DS RPG had topped 2 million.

The well received indie multiplayer strategy title launched on PC back in 2007 and gave gamers the chance to participate in global nuclear war. Nintendo’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway was recently asked if Sony has been doing anything better than Nintendo with the PSP to broaden the market. Essentially, she brushed off the question. Dunaway instead opted to discuss how Nintendo is pleased with their sales numbers and that the company is “setting records every month.”
